What it's like

Patong is Phuket's liveliest resort: a long curve of sand lined with sunbeds and jet skis, the neon of Bangla Road's bars, clubs and cabaret shows after dark, and Jungceylon mall and night markets in between. It has every kind of hotel, from hostels to beachfront resorts, and tours leave from here to Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay.

It's the best base for nightlife and convenience. The beach is crowded, Bangla Road is loud until the early hours, and traffic is heavy; quieter resorts sit on the headlands at each end of the bay.
