The best things to do in Seoul
Seoul's palaces and old streets are north of the Han River, in Jongno, with Myeongdong and Namsan Tower just south of them. Hongdae's nightlife is to the west, Itaewon in the middle and Gangnam across the river to the south-east, all linked by the subway.
Here are the 20 things we'd put on a first trip, grouped by part of the city, with the area to stay in if that part of Seoul matters most to you. Each palace closes one day a week, so check before you plan a palace day.
