Why stay here

  • The widest choice of hotels in Bangkok
  • Restaurants and bars for every taste
  • BTS along the whole road and MRT at Asok

Who should stay here

  • Nightlife and food lovers
  • Longer stays and business trips
  • Travellers who want choice at every price

Not ideal if…

  • You want to walk to temples and the old town
  • You'd rather avoid red-light streets near Nana
  • You want quiet nights in lower Sukhumvit

What it's like

Sukhumvit Road runs east for kilometres under the BTS, with numbered sois branching off on both sides. Around Nana and Asok it's busy and international, with malls like Terminal 21 and plenty of nightlife; further east, Phrom Phong and Thong Lo are more upmarket, with the city's best restaurants and cocktail bars.

It has more hotels than anywhere else in Bangkok at every price, and the Skytrain and MRT make it easy to get around. The lower sois near Nana and Soi Cowboy are home to red-light bars, which some travellers prefer to avoid; Phrom Phong and Thong Lo feel more residential.
