What it's like

The northern stretch of the Hotel Zone, kilometres 4 to 10 of Boulevard Kukulcán, faces north towards Isla Mujeres, so the sea is calm and shallow at beaches like Playa Langosta, Playa Tortugas and Playa Caracol. Punta Cancún, at the elbow of the strip, is home to the Party Center, with Coco Bongo and the city's biggest nightclubs, plus malls and restaurants.

It's the best part of the Hotel Zone for families who want gentle water and for anyone who wants nightlife within walking distance. Beaches are narrower than in the south, and spring break makes Punta Cancún very loud in March.
