What it's like
The Magnificent Mile is North Michigan Avenue's stretch of flagship stores and landmark buildings, from the Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower to the Water Tower and the 875 North Michigan skyscraper with 360 Chicago on top. Streeterville runs east to the lake and Navy Pier, with the Museum of Contemporary Art and lakeside paths.
It's a polished, central base with a huge choice of hotels and easy walks to the Loop and River North. It's busy with shoppers and tourists, and restaurants here lean towards chains and hotel dining.
