What it's like

KLCC, the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, is built around the Petronas Twin Towers. Their skybridge and observation deck look over KLCC Park, with its fountains, jogging track and children's water play area, and the Suria KLCC mall at their base. Aquaria KLCC and the convention centre are at the park's southern edge, and an air-conditioned walkway runs to Bukit Bintang.

It's the most polished base, with big luxury hotels at prices far below other Asian capitals and tower views from many rooms. It's quieter and less characterful than Bukit Bintang or Chinatown, and street food means a short walk or ride.
