What it's like

SoHo's cast-iron lofts and cobbled side streets now house fashion flagships, galleries and some of the city's most stylish hotels. Little Italy, Chinatown, Nolita and the West Village are all within walking distance.

It gets packed with shoppers on weekend afternoons and quietens at night. Hotels are small in number and high in price.
