What it's like

Williamsburg is Brooklyn's liveliest neighbourhood: converted warehouses, rooftop bars, vintage shops and weekend food markets, with the Manhattan skyline across the river from Domino Park.

Hotels are newer and often better value than Manhattan. The L train reaches Union Square in about 10 minutes, but it's 30 minutes to Midtown.
