What it's like

Uluwatu is all drama: limestone cliffs drop to turquoise water, with beaches like Padang Padang, Bingin and Suluban reached by steep steps. The Uluwatu Temple perches on a cliff with nightly Kecak fire dances at sunset, and surfers come for some of Asia's best waves. Clifftop bars and beach clubs fill up for sunset.

It's perfect for surfers, couples and anyone wanting views. It's spread out, so you'll need a scooter or driver, the beach steps are steep, and it's far from Ubud.
