Not ideal if…

  • You want polished hotels

What it's like

North Neukölln has become the hub of young, international Berlin. The Reuterkiez and Weserstraße are full of bars and cafés, Sonnenallee is lined with Arabic bakeries and restaurants, and the Schillerkiez opens onto Tempelhofer Feld, the old airport turned into a huge park.

It's the best value in central Berlin and has a real local feel, with the U7 and U8 into the centre. It's gritty in places, with few hotels, and the main sights are 20 minutes or more away.

  • Weserstraße

The main bar street of the Reuterkiez.

  • Sonnenallee
