Why stay here

  • Some of the best food in Berlin
  • Canals, markets and street art
  • Bars and clubs everywhere

Who should stay here

  • Food lovers
  • Nightlife fans
  • Travellers who want alternative Berlin

Not ideal if…

  • You want polished streets
  • You want quiet nights around Kottbusser Tor
  • You want the big sights on foot

What it's like

Kreuzberg is the Berlin of street art, döner kebabs and late nights. Around Kottbusser Tor and Oranienstraße it's gritty and lively; along the Landwehrkanal and in the Graefekiez it's leafy and relaxed, with the Turkish market on Maybachufer on Tuesdays and Fridays. Markthalle Neun hosts a weekly street-food night, and the Jewish Museum is on the western side.

It's ideal if you want food, bars and character over polish. Some areas around Kottbusser Tor and Görlitzer Park feel rough at night, and hotel choice is smaller than in Mitte.
