What it's like

Jumeirah runs along the coast from La Mer and the Jumeirah Mosque down to Umm Suqeim, where the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab stands offshore. Behind the beaches it's quiet streets of villas, cafés and small malls, without the towers of Downtown or the Marina.

The hotels here are mostly beach resorts, from the Madinat Jumeirah complex to the Four Seasons, and Kite Beach and Sunset Beach are among the best free beaches in the city. The metro doesn't run along this stretch, so you'll use taxis to get around.

Best streets and sub-areas

  • Jumeirah Beach Road

Coast road past the beaches, villas and cafés.

  • Kite Beach

Free beach with a running track, food trucks and water sports.

  • Madinat Jumeirah

Resort complex of canals, a souk and restaurants.
