Where to stay in Hong Kong

Hong Kong's main areas face each other across Victoria Harbour, joined by the MTR and the Star Ferry. On Hong Kong Island, stay in Central for the skyline, the Peak Tram and Lan Kwai Fong; in Sheung Wan for antique shops, temples and boutique hotels; in Wan Chai or Causeway Bay for good-value hotels, food and shopping. Across the water in Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui has the harbour views and the grand hotels, and Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei have the street markets and the cheapest rooms. October to December is the best time to visit.
