What it's like

Montrose is Houston's arty, bohemian heart and its historic LGBTQ+ neighbourhood. The free Menil Collection, the Rothko Chapel and the Cy Twombly Gallery sit on a peaceful campus of bungalows and lawns, while Westheimer Road is lined with restaurants, cocktail bars, tattoo parlours and vintage shops. Buffalo Bayou Park is just to the north.

It's the most walkable, characterful base in Houston, central for Downtown, the museums and the Galleria. Hotels are few and boutique, and there's no rail line, so you'll use rideshare or buses.
