Why stay here

  • The cheapest rooms and lowest resort fees
  • Fremont Street and classic casinos
  • Mob Museum and Neon Museum nearby

Who should stay here

  • Budget travellers
  • Repeat visitors
  • Fans of old Vegas

Not ideal if…

  • You want to be on the Strip
  • You want quiet nights
  • You'd rather avoid gritty streets

What it's like

Downtown is where Vegas began, and it keeps a looser, old-school feel: the Fremont Street Experience's LED canopy and zip line, historic casinos like the Golden Nugget, and the bars and restaurants of Fremont East. The Mob Museum and the Neon Museum's boneyard of old signs are nearby, and the Arts District lies to the south.

Rooms are much cheaper than on the Strip and resort fees are lower. It's 15–20 minutes by car or bus from the Strip, Fremont Street is loud and crowded at night, and some surrounding streets feel rough after dark.
