What it's like

Sentosa is Singapore's playground: Resorts World with Universal Studios and the aquarium, Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong beaches along the south shore, and adventure parks, a cable car and beach clubs. The hotels are resorts with large pools and gardens.

It's ideal for families on a theme-park and beach trip, but it's a resort bubble: getting into the city means the Sentosa Express monorail to HarbourFront and then the MRT, about 25 minutes to the centre. Food and drink on the island cost more than in town.
