What it's like

Lara stretches east from the Falez cliffs past the Lower Düden waterfall, which drops straight into the sea, to a long sandy beach where most of the big resort hotels stand, some built as copies of famous landmarks.

Most visitors stay all-inclusive and rarely leave the hotel. The airport is close, the sand is good for children, and prices include meals. The old town is 30 to 40 minutes away by bus or taxi, so it's a beach base, not a sightseeing one.

Best streets and sub-areas

  • Lara Caddesi

Main road from the city past the Düden waterfall.

  • Kundu

The far end of the beach, where the biggest resorts are.
