What it's like

Sanur was one of Bali's first resorts, and it has stayed calm and low-rise. A paved beachfront path runs for several kilometres past hotels, cafés and fishing boats, the reef keeps the water calm, and fast boats leave for Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida.

It's ideal for families, older travellers and anyone who wants a gentle pace. The beach is narrow and seaweedy in places, and nightlife is quiet.
