What it's like

Barceloneta is a tight grid of narrow streets built for fishermen and dock workers, now lined with seafood restaurants and bars, with the city's main beach on one side and the marina on the other.

It's perfect for a summer beach trip and 15 minutes' walk from El Born. In peak season the beach bars and streets are loud late into the night; off season it can feel empty.
