What it's like
Dubai Marina is a canal lined with towers and yachts, with a walkway all the way round. On the sea side, JBR has a long public beach and The Walk, a promenade of shops and restaurants. Bluewaters Island, with the giant Ain Dubai wheel, sits just offshore.
It's the best mix of beach and city life: you can walk to the sand, eat out every night and get around on the tram and the metro. It's far from Downtown and the old town, at 40 minutes or more by metro, and the beach and The Walk are crowded at weekends.
