What it's like
Karlín was rebuilt after the 2002 floods and has become one of Prague's trendiest neighbourhoods: grand 19th-century apartment blocks and modern office buildings line streets full of brunch cafés, wine bars and some of the city's best restaurants. The Vltava riverside and Florenc bus station are nearby.
It's a stylish, good-value base with the metro to the centre in two stops. It has few sights of its own and feels more like a place to live than to sightsee.
