Not ideal if…

  • You want nightlife

  • You struggle with hills and cobbles

What it's like

Malá Strana sits between the river and the castle hill, a district of baroque palaces, embassies, hidden gardens and the green-domed St Nicholas Church. The Lennon Wall and Kampa Island are by the river, Petřín Hill rises to the south, and Nerudova street climbs to Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral.

It's the most romantic place to stay, calmer than the Old Town at night. The hills and cobbles are hard work, and there are fewer budget options.

Steep street of house signs up to the castle.

  • Malostranské náměstí
